Metroid Dread is a 2D platformer where you play as Samus Aran, the protagonist of the Metroid series. It was released on Nintendo Switch in 2018 and is available now for purchase.
The metroid dread cataris item map is a comprehensive guide to all the items in Metroid Dread Cataris. It includes locations, strategies, and more.
Cataris is the hottest zone on the planet ZDR, with numerous super-hot volcanic chambers. If you can stand the heat, you can discover a slew of weapon and equipment upgrades for Samus Aran.
Energy Tanks, Missile Expansions, and Power Bomb Tanks are the most frequent collectibles in Metroid Dread, and they all improve different stats. All of them may be found throughout Cataris; here’s how to get them.
Missile Tank #1 [+2] | Morph Ball is required.
Photographed by
Head to the center-left portion of the EMMI’s patrol zone after it has been neutralized. Use your freshly obtained Morph Ball to slip into the tight passageways and reach the Missile Tank.
Missile Tank #2 [+2] | Spider Magnet, Morph Ball are required.
Photographed by
Another Missile Tank may be found in the EMMI Zone’s eastern edge, southwest of the Save Station. Look for a Morph Ball tunnel that leads to a secluded area. Watch out — the robot opponent in this room is very deadly and may easily kill you with a single shot. In between Missile volleys, it seems that ducking in the back corner atop the platform is the safest location to hide. Move across the ceiling using Spider Magnet to reach a secret ledge filled with Missile Blocks once it’s out of the way. Blow them away, then snuggle yourself into a ball and roll over to the Tank.
Missile Tank #3 [+2] | Charge Beam, Morph Ball are required.
Photographed by
A Charge Beam Door may be found in Cataris’ extreme eastern outskirts. After passing through, defeat or avoid the rock opponent on the other side. To access another Missile Tank, jump to the ledge in the rear corner and tuck into the nook with your Morph Ball.
Part 1: Energy | Prerequisites: Charge Beam, Spider Magnet
Photographed by
Once you’ve drained the lava from the map’s north-central sector, you’ll be able to obtain this part. Head inside the right-hand chamber from the Save Station northeast of the EMMI Zone. Climb up using the Spider Magnet ability and blast the concealed blocks out of the way. Enter the region that used to be filled with lava via the Charge Beam entrance at the top. Follow the route as it loops around, then slide through the little gap to collect the Energy Part you probably saw previously when draining the lava.
Spider Magnet, Phantom Cloak | Requirements: Energy Tank
Photographed by
Please don’t leave the area just yet! Make careful to leap up to the Spider Magnet wall on your way out to pull down a platform that is obstructing the route above. Now turn around and go back the way you came, following the route uphill. You’ll be in the tunnel with the now-accessible Energy Tank if you use the Phantom Cloak ability to sneak past the Sensor Door.
Missile Tank #4 [+2] | Morph Ball is required.
Photographed by
This Missile Tank may be located near the Artaria elevator in the vertical winding tunnel. Between the Network Station and the Recharge Station, look for a Morph Ball tunnel. To get the Tank, roll through it.
Missile Tank #5 [+10] | Morph Ball is required.
Photographed by
The map’s far western edge is where you’ll find your first Missile+ Expansion. A set of small tunnels may be found just next to the Save Station. Get in there with your Morph Ball, and keep an eye out for the burrowing opponents that will be following you. The Missile Tank, on the other hand, is impossible to overlook. It’s there in front of you, so go ahead and take it.
Missile Tank #6 [+2] | Morph Ball, Varia Suit are required.
Photographed by
In the northwest corner of the Network Station, there is a volcanic chamber (the Varia Suit will keep you safe in the heat). A set of Beam Blocks may be found within; fire them carefully to give yourself a ledge to climb on. Then leap up to the ledge and tuck yourself into your Morph Ball to grab the Missile Tank.
Missile Tank #7 [+2] | Charge Beam, Varia Suit are required.
Photographed by
Between the EMMI Zone and a Network Station lies an isolated volcanic chamber west of the elevator from Artaria. Enter with your Charge Beam and go to the right side of the chamber by crossing the platforms. Take down the tunneling opponent behind the wall, or precisely timing your leap to reach the Missile Expansion above.
Morph Ball, Wide Beam, Bombs, Varia Suit | Missile Tank #8 [+2] |
Photographed by
In the upper, winding chamber of the eastern volcanic area, there’s a Missile Tank (where the rock enemies are boxed in). To break through the floor, shoot the Wide Beam Block out of the way and bomb the area where it was sitting. To go to the Expansion, blast out a block on the left end of this tunnel.
Missile Tank #9 [+2] | Flash Shift, Speed Booster are required.
Photographed by
In the tunnel near the tram to Dairon, there is a Speed Booster puzzle. Begin on that side of the door, run through, shoot the low block on the other side, then put your Shinespark away. Now you must rapidly slide through the gap and wrap around to the right side of the ceiling, with the Flash Shift providing an additional kick. Break through the ceiling and seize a Missile Tank by launching yourself up onto it.
Spider Magnet, Grapple Beam, Varia Suit, Spin Boost, Diffusion Beam | Missile Tank #10 [+2] | Requirements: Spider Magnet, Grapple Beam, Varia Suit, Spin Boost, Diffusion Beam
Photographed by
Just northwest of the Purple Teleportal lies this Missile Tank. While having the Space Jump and Gravity Suit makes it much simpler to reach, you may achieve it sooner by utilizing well-timed Spin Boost leaps in combination with the Spider Magnet and Grapple Beam. Your Diffusion Beam will then be able to reach the fractured rock at the cave’s top and blast open the route to the Expansion.
Morph Ball, Varia Suit, Spin Diffusion Beam | Missile Tank #11 [+2] | Requirements:
Photographed by
Another Missile Tank may be found in volcanic tunnel on the opposite side of the Purple Teleportal. When you notice some broken rocks in the ceiling, you’ll know it’s true. You should be able to open up the Morph Ball route ahead using your Diffusion Beam alone, but if not, you may use the Wave Beam afterwards.
Spider Magnet, Morph Ball, Grapple Beam, Bombs, Varia Suit, Space Jump | Power Bomb Tank #1 | Requirements: Spider Magnet, Morph Ball, Grapple Beam, Bombs, Varia Suit, Space Jump
Photographed by
Head to the towering room in the northeast with the Spider Magnet lifts – there are a set of Beam Blocks in front of a Grapple Beam Door at the top of this chamber. To discover a difficult collection of blocks and another magnetic platform, go through and Space Jump up. Shoot the Beam Block, then jump up into its place to release a Bomb. You must now rapidly descend and fire the Missile Blocks, clearing the way for the magnetic platform. Then you may leap to it and pull it down, revealing the Tank above. Because the timing is difficult, it may take a few attempts.
Missile Tank #13 [+2] | Morph Ball, Bombs, Varia Suit, Space Jump
Photographed by
Once you have the Space Jump, go to the eastern volcanic area and jump all the way to the top of the highest chamber. Follow the route back down to the solitary Missile Tank after passing through the Morph Ball tunnels and dropping several Bombs.
Screw Attack | Missile Tank #12 [+2] | Requirements:
Photographed by
Above the Experiment Z-57 boss room is a wall of Screw Attack blocks. To expose a Missile Tank, leap through them.
Missile Tank #14 [+2] | Requirements: Gravity Suit, Speed Booster
Photographed by
Although this Speed Booster puzzle is in the lava, it is very simple if you have the Gravity Suit. Under the Orange Teleportal, go to the northwest volcanic area. Jump into the lava and begin sprinting from the room’s left side. You’ll fly straight through the Speed Booster Blocks and into the Tank if you shoot the blocks and slide under the rock as you go. Although it may be difficult to see Samus rushing through the lava, you’ll be OK.
Missile Tank #15 [+2] | Morph Ball, Bombs, Gravity Suit
Photographed by
To get to the passageways above the Kraid boss room, go up the stairs. With the Morph Ball and Gravity Suit, you may safely roll down a low lava tunnel. To locate the final Cataris Missile Tank buried in the rock, drop a bomb at the end.
Morph Ball, Grapple Beam, Bombs, Gravity Suit | Power Bomb Tank #2 | Requirements: Morph Ball, Grapple Beam, Bombs, Gravity Suit
Photographed by
In the Kraid boss chamber, there is a secret passage in the lava. You may safely jump in and roll through after you have the Gravity Suit. A Morph Ball labyrinth containing Bomb and Pitfall Blocks may be found in the following room. You may either use trial and error to go through or use a Power Bomb to expose all of the blocks at once. On the opposite side of Grapple Beam Block, you’ll discover an upgrade near the top of the chamber.
Morph Ball, Grapple Beam, Speed Booster, Gravity Suit, Wave Beam, Power Bomb | Energy Part #2 | Requirements: Morph Ball, Grapple Beam, Speed Booster, Gravity Suit, Wave Beam, Power Bomb
Photographed by
In the volcanic region under the Purple Teleportal, there is a multi-step Speed Booster puzzle. However, you must first go east via the Grapple Beam Door to reach the tunnel above the heated zone. From there, shoot down at the Wave Beam Door to open it; then retrace and enter the volcanic chamber below through the new route. Drop into the lava lake and yank at the Grapple Beam Block at the bottom – the Energy Part we’re looking for will be visible on the way down. Return to the Purple Teleportal and fire the Beam Blocks on the floor to reach a lava-filled bottom area. Stop instead of moving on to the next area and use a Power Bomb to blast away additional rocks. Finally, we can go to the Energy Section. Begin sprinting to the right from near the step-like part of the room. Before you tumble over the cliff and lose your momentum, store a Shinespark after breaking through the Speed Booster Blocks. Move to the end of the tunnel and launch straight up to the cave ceiling above, passing through several additional blocks that were sandwiching the Grapple Beam Block. You may grasp the ledge and roll over to the Energy Part from here. All of this for the price of a quarter of a tank.
Morph Ball, Speed Booster, and Power Bomb are required for Power Bomb Tank #3.
Photographed by
A single Power Bomb Block may be found in the Morph Ball tunnels in the EMMI Zone’s center-left. Blow through to reveal the Power Bomb Tank below, then return to the top of the tunnel to complete the Speed Booster puzzle. Start sprinting north of here in the chamber, activate your Shinespark, and rapidly slide to the right. To return to the tunnels, rapidly slide to the left, drop down onto the Beam Block, then launch right to reach the Expansion.
