343 Industries has released a campaign file for the upcoming Halo Infinite that contains some major spoilers about the game’s story. The file was meant to be private and was accidentally uploaded to the Halo Waypoint website, leaking information on the game’s ending.

343 Industries’ Joseph Staten has issued a warning to Halo fans, advising them to stay away from certain parts of the internet because campaign spoilers for Halo Infinite have surfaced as part of the game’s ongoing multiplayer technical preview, which is being used to fine-tune the multiplayer portion of the game. While the developer would probably prefer to claim that it had no idea how the story spoilers got out, 343 Industries admitted that the story spoilers got out because the developer made a mistake and “unintentionally” included campaign files in the preview build, which were later data mined by more technically savvy fans. Brian Jarrard, community director at 343 Industries, advised Halo Insiders not to upload any of this material to their channels since they would very certainly get a takedown notice from Microsoft’s legal team. This Christmas season, Halo Infinite will be available on Xbox One and Windows 10.

Leaks like these hurt the development team and may spoil everyone’s campaign experience. Please keep a watch out for spoilers and don’t share them if you come across any. ❤️ 2/2

IMPORTANT: Do not share data-mined material on your channels! You face the risk of receiving a takedown notice, which may result in a platform-wide strike. If you’ve already published material, we suggest proactively deleting it from your channel.

“Hey everyone, just a heads up: a tiny amount of #HaloInfinite campaign files were accidentally included in the tech preview build. These files, unfortunately, contain spoilers. Leaks like these hurt the development team and may spoil everyone’s campaign experience. So please keep a watch out for spoilers and don’t share them if you come across any.”
